Rarely does a book come along that moves me from the very first chapter. This one did.
The story follows Leo Deakin, as 25 year old travelling in South America with his girlfriend. From the word go readers are hit with Leo’s heartbreak, as the opening chapter deals with the tragic death of Elena, Leo’s girlfriend, killed in a bus accident during their travels.
Leo is forced to face life without Elena, a life without love, and the novel explores his grief as he tries to cope with and come to terms with what happened.
This is a beautiful, moving book, that has touched me in a way that no other ever has. If you don’t shed a few tears at this one, I’m afraid you must be made of stone!
